One of the most difficult aspects of becoming a confident, fluent English speaker is pronunciation.

This can be something that can really hold you back from speaking with confidence.

*To hold you back means to prevent or restrict the progress of something.

You want to speak but you’re worried about making a mistake or looking stupid, and when people don’t understand you, this can make you less and less willing to take a chance and try to speak to native speakers.

But! I really don’t want this to stop you moving forward with your English. I know how it feels. At the moment I’m learning French and the pronunciation can be really hard!

But my advice is to remember that this is a learning journey. You certainly do not need to be perfect to make progress.

“Progress over perfection.” 😃

Be willing to try speaking, even if you’re not sure if your pronunciation is correct. This is the only way to learn and improve. Ask people to help you and correct you. Enjoy your journey to English fluency. Discover your weaknesses, make a note of them, and keep practicing. Then try again.

Most of all, have fun while you’re learning and improving. Honestly, no one is going to hate you if you make a mistake!

I have made a pronunciation lesson for you which focuses on 8 words that many people find difficult to pronounce. These are very commonly used words, meaning we use them on a fairly frequent basis.

We will practise these words;
1. mountain
2. clothes
3. world
4. work
5. walk
6. town
7. involve
8. enthusiastic

Fairly simple vocabulary, but often these words are mispronounced and this can cause confusion when communicating.

Let’s go to the lesson!
